The first thing out the door is a book
I’ve been focused mostly on gamedev stuff in this log. I think the first thing I ship is going to be a book.
It’s called Eros’ Field Guide to Human Love. The premise: Eros, the actual god of love, narrates one lonely guy’s run at international dating. He has been doing this job for a few thousand years, and the protagonist is not an exceptional case. Possibly a very amusing one though.
It pulls a lot from my own experiences. The re-edit is about 2/3 done. 7 chapters converted so far, and the book now opens and closes on the same moment, seen twice. 28k words sitting in a review doc, waiting on my own red pen. Route is KDP self-publishing.
Now onto more game type info. I keep a morning feed that pulls in devlogs from other solo devs - AI does the scanning, I do the reading. Two from this week stuck.
One dev got annoyed enough at pixel-editor friction on his hobby game that he spent his next two months building his own editor instead. Novaboard: free, runs in the browser, opens Aseprite files, exports sprite sheets. It might be useful in the future.
The other is a Blender to Godot pipeline addon from michaeljared. 5 dollars, version 2.5.5, improved in public for two years through an itch devlog.
